Air Conditioning

I cannot believe that June has come and gone already. It sure has been a rainy season this year, which of course has brought about tons of mosquitoes. One good thing that has come of our unusually cool summer is that we have not had to run our air conditioning. Boy will that save on our electric bill. I am surprised with all the rain that it has not been more humid. I suppose this only means that July and August will be really hot and humid and we will need to run our air for the entire rest of the summer.

Baby Food

Dru is now 5 months old. Hard to believe how the time has gone by so fast. We are not trying to introduce her to some solid foods. She so far has refused to eat any of the rice cereal, pears, bananas, or green beans. She tries the first bite and then it is a shower of food for mom. She continues to fuss until she gets what she wants, and that is the bottle. I can't believe that she is in the 97% for height and weight compared to other babies her age. Well I guess I can honestly say she is not undernourished. Hopefully soon she will enjoy other baby foods if not I guess we will just move right on to big people food.

Grandpa Dell

I can't believe July 4, 2008 will be exactly two months since we lost grandpa Dell. He was a very special man to all that knew him and has been greatly missed by all of his family. My Uncle Mike, my husband John, and myself were with grandpa when he passed on. It was a comfort to me that he had some of his loved ones with him on his final adventure. I will always remember him as my fun, picking on all the kids, ornry, but loving grandpa. Love you gramps and miss you lots.

School's Out

Today was the last day of school for my kids. They are so excited about summer finally arriving. They are looking forward to the new swimming pool, baseball games, and sleeping in. I sure hope the temps start to warm up or that new pool is going to be really cold. They will also need to keep up on their list of chores that need to be done in the morning or they may not be seeing a whole lot of pool time.

Snow

It is April 27 and I cannot believe that the weatherman is still talking about a chance of snow. I really am starting to believe that old man winter forgot that it is now spring. This year we are going to go from running the furnace to putting on the air conditioner. I really would like to enjoy some nice weather instead of going right from cold to hot and humid. I guess I shouldn't complain, I would rather have summer than winter any day.

BDU Pants

The two men in my life are avid outdoorsmen. It seems as though they are always shopping for some new attire to wear during their outdoor explorations. I wonder if BDU pants would be something that would be of use to them on their trips into the wilderness. These pants are used by the military and have been adopted by people who love the outdoors.

Babies

Babies, Babies, Babies. There sure are babies popping up all over the place. I have my beautiful baby girl who is three months old. A friend of mine just had a baby last September. Another good friend had little Noah in March. Yesterday, a gal from work had a baby girl, which we are all very excited about. My sister is due with a baby boy the end of may. I think it would be pretty funny if his name ends up being Lucas. Inside family joke. And than there is my boss's wife who is also due the end of May. Can't wait to meet the last two babies who are due to arrive soon and to watch them all grow up.

Thunderstorms

On my way home from work tonight the skies turned from blue to gray. By the time I got home the sky was black. My first thought was "oh know we are in for a bad thunderstorm tonight". Storms here in the Midwest can be pretty scary at times. You never know if the storms will produce hail, heavy rains, or even turn into a tornado. I am relieved that the worst of the storm went around us. I sure hope that we don't get much more rain, we really just need to dry out some.

PDA

I am the proud mom of a three month old baby girl. She is so precious and sweet. During my pregnancy it was reassuring to see my doctor using her PDA, personal digital assistant. I knew that any questions I asked about medications would be answered correctly because she would get out her PDA and look up anything I asked her. I wonder if she used Epocrates drug reference guide to answer my questions. With Epocrates she would be able to receive free medical pocket pc software, free medical palm software, and free medical windows mobile software. Knowing that my doctor would be able get immediate answers to all my drug related questions, by using her PDA, puts my mind at ease.

4 Days

When I found out I was pregnant with Dru, my husband and I decided since she makes child number four that maybe I should go from five days a week at work, down to four days. So far I think this has been a great thing for myself, Dru, and my three older children. I can't believe how much faster the week goes when you have a day at home during the week to get all the things done that normally had to wait for Saturday or Sunday. Maybe now I will have the weekends to enjoy fun activities with the kids, like camping, swimming, or just lounging around and enjoying the day.

Day Care

I have been back to work now for about three weeks. It is always so hard to go back after maternity leave. Dru seems to be adjusting just fine, probably better than mom. She is attending the local daycare center here in town. I was a little unsure about having her attend a large daycare facility as my other children attended a in-home-daycare. I can definitely see advantages to both ways. So far I really do like what I see there and I only anticipate it to continue to be a great place for both Dru and Mom.
