Rival Basketball Game

I am really excited for tonights high school girls basketball game. Tonight the two top teams of the conference are playing against each other. Both of their records for conference play are 5-0, this should make for a very exciting game. Usually our girls basketball team is not very good, sorry to say, however this year is an exception. How fun would it be if they could continue their winning record tonight. Go Indians.

Athletic Shoes

Recently I have tried to start a healthier lifestyle. I have done this by trying to change my eating habits and also by making sure I get in some type of exercise everyday. This past summer I did a lot of walking and running outside. The scenic view was great as we live very close to a golf course, which is very pretty. It gives me some interesting people to look at as I walk or run by.

Because I live in Iowa, I cannot exercise outside as our winters can be very harsh. Using the elliptical at the local YMCA has been my choice of exercise recently. Unfortunately this past fall I injuried my new so running does not come as easily for me. The elliptical seems to be very gentle on my knees and still lets me have an excercise program. I have also learned that good athletic shoes are a must not matter what type of excercise I am doing

Blizzard

We here in Iowa are offically in the middle of the first blizzard of the winter season. I was hoping the weathermen's reports were wrong, as they were last weekend, however it has happened and we are stranded at home. It started with rain last night, turning over to snow around 9:30 this morning. Since then it has snowed constantly, major drifting, no visability, and the wind just continues to howl. They say the winds are 30 - 40 mph with gusts of around 50. Not a good situation with little snow let alone 6 - 12 inches that has been predictied for our area. I guess we'll just stay in and bake some Christmas cookies.

Swim Team

Becca has joined our local YMCA's winter swim team. She was not very excited to do this, however, her dad and I thought it would be a good idea. Last weekend she had her very first meet and she did a really awesome job. She got third place in the backstroke and second for her team. She has been trying really hard and I think as much as she doesn't want to admit it, she loves swim team. She has another meet tomorrow and I am very excited to see how much Becca will improve her times, especially now that she knows what to expect.

Trapping

Recently my husband John decided to start up with a new hobby, or should I say an old hobby from high school that he has now resumed. This new hobby is trapping. John is a huge outdoorsmen and this is just another thing to add to his list. He has been trapping for about two weeks now and all I have to say is that it seems to be very time consuming. He leaves each morning to check traps, which leaves me to getting our four children ready for school. He is gone in the evening checking traps and than skinning anything that was caught. John seems to be really excited about this new venture, however, I am not.

Thanksgiving Turkey

This year for our family Thanksgiving my sister and I are in charge. How scary is that. I am not quite sure how things are going to turn out. I have been put in charge of the turkey and stuffing. As I have never made homemade stuffing before I will be using a few boxes of Stove Top Stuffing. I think that should suffice and make most people happy. The trick this year will be in making the turkey. I have made only one other turkey in my lifetime, and I am not exactly sure on how to prepare it. My mom says to just throw it in a brown paper bag with some flour and it will turn out fine. I have doubts, I think I will look through some cookbooks and see if anyone can give me some better suggestions. I am sure everything will turn out fine and everyone will be happy with their dinner.

The Cat In The Hat

Here we go, go, go on an adventure. . . . go, go, go, goooo. Two of my daughters are addicted to the new PBS show The Cat In The Hat. As an adult I really don't see what is so great about this TV program, but it seems to keep Alli and Dru entertained and contained :). I do have to say the adventures they go on are interesting and informative, however not enough to keep my attention. The jingle for the song can be quite annoying as well. Oh well, at least it's not a continuous night of Scooby Doo and Curious George.

Survivor

Right now Survivor is what my family is watching on TV. At this moment they are doing the challenge and I sure hope Marty does not win. I have not seen this season very much, but from what I can tell Marty seems to be way to sure of himself. Thankfully, Brenda just won the challenge and now Marty has a very good chance of going home tonight. I'm sure a lot of us who watch this show can only hope for that. I do have to admire those who choose to participate in this reality TV Show, as I know that I could not do it.

Clara's Baptism

This past Sunday, my niece Clara Rae, was baptised. Baptism is always such a special occassion, all children are special gifts from God. The service was extra special, as it is always so neat to see little ones baptised. The gathering after the baptism was fun also. Catching up with family and friends at special occassions like this is always a good time. I hope Clara always knows Gods love and will continue to grow in his faith as she gets old and learns his good stories.
