Leaving My Roomate

Thanks for the guest post by Jo Levy

Work is going well, and I was just promoted to a management position. I enjoy my job and feel so lucky that I am excelling. I am excited that I finally have enough money to get my own place, even though I feel bad that I am leaving my roommate. We are close friends and had a few good years living together. I’m sure one day I will look back at these days and miss having people around all the time, but right now I am ready for my own space. I started looking at apartments last week, and I am pleasantly surprised about what I can afford. There are some great apartments out there. I found one place that has all utilities included, and it’s a great deal. They have clear wireless for the whole building, and a great cable package. I hope to be out of here and in my own place in a few months. I figure it might be easier to go to a place that has everything set up for me so that I don’t have to do all that stuff myself.

Basketball

My daughter Becca decided she would like to try out for a traveling basketball team and she is very excited that she made the team. She now will have basketball practice up to three time a week. She also has the opportunity to play in eight different tournaments, which will require traveling and overnight stays. One of the reasons she is so excited is having to chance to play with girls her age from surrounding communities, the girls she would normally play against. It should be a very rewarding and excellent learning experience for her.

Moving Here

Thanks for the article from Isaiah Gaines

Living here was one of the scariest things I ever did I have to say the move was a good one because I got this job. The whole reason I came to Philadelphia in the first place was to take over this social media position and I think I have really done a lot and proved myself in just a short time. I convinced my boss to get us Philadelphia T1 for the office because the Internet here was painfully slow and I've done a lot to really get our clients engaged with the store on the social media level. At first my boss was really resistant to sending out online coupons but after he saw the response he got via twitter I think he changed his mind. Tell her up and I have to say that my efforts are definitely contributing to the windfall and I think I have a bright future here at this company. The big news is that I love living in Philadelphia and I will stay here no matter what job I have!

Trip To Florida

On Wednesday my daughter Becca leaves for Florida. She will be traveling with my sister Trisha, her husband Mike, and their two boys Hudson and Logan. They have a full week planned with visits to Disney World, Sea World, a beach somewhere, and a possible excursion to see Winter the Dolphin. Becca is so excited to be going and Wednesday cannot get here fast enough. I do have to say I am a little jealous as she has already been to all these places once and I have never been able to go. I hope she has a lot of fun and doesn't miss her mommy too much. :)

Gym

Thanks for the post from Lynn Guy

I work out at the local gym. It’s one of those 24 hour places where you can pop in anytime that works for your schedule. This is perfect for me because I have bad insomnia sometimes, and when I just can’t sleep, I go to the gym and workout. By the time I am done with the workout, my body is tired and it is much easier for me to fall asleep. They’ve got a tv there, with a remote that I can control. I’m usually the only one there at that time, so I can pick what to watch. The only problem is, nothing is ever on that late! Unless you like those shows where they try to sell you stuff, there aren’t many choices. At home I use expertsatellite, so I can watch what I want anytime. Not so at the gym. I’m not sure what they have (cable?), but I sure wish I could pick something to watch that is on at a different time; either that or Sex and the City reruns that I love.

Volleyball

This Saturday my 12 year old daughter will be going to a College Volleyball camp. I am really excited for her to get some one on one coaching from collegiate players. Becca is a strong volleyball player for only being in the sixth grade. She has a very strong serve, can receive well, and has a pretty good understanding of the game. She is also very excited as the other girls she is used to playing with will also be at camp. They are all hoping to learn a great deal and improve on their game.

Far Away

Guest written by our friend Donnie Donovan

Being so far away from family has made life pretty boring for me, to tell you the truth. I was used to going to one of my sister’s houses jus about every night for dinner and since I took this new job I don’t have much to do at night so I spend a lot of time online or watching my http://www.direc4u.com/il/p/peoria/ channels. I’m actually really into sports right now since I’ve always been a tomboy and football is really big here which is nice. I love being in the know when it comes to my favorite teams. I think it makes me a better single woman since men like it when women like sports and can watch with them and I not only like sports, I love them! I think it’s so much fun to get behind a team and cheer them on. I really miss my family but sometimes I have to remember that I needed to get out on my own and start something new. That’s the place I’m in right now.

Happy 2012

I just cannot believe that it is 2012. I had a great time with family bringing in the new year. It was so fun watching all the little cousins play hard all night long, it was a treat for them to stay up way past their bedtimes. I hope this is a tradition that is in the making, being with family and having the little ones hang out, having a blast at grandma's. Those are some of the fond memories I have of growning up, being at my grandma's and celebrating with all my cousins which I didn't get to see often.
