36 Weeks Pregnant

I am now on the down hill slide of my pregnancy. I am officially 36 weeks pregnant. Because I have Gestational Diabetes the last three weeks I have had a non-stress test at my doctors visit. Last Friday the test showed I was having contractions already so I was admitted to the hospital to make sure baby was alright and that I wasn't going into active labor to early. Thank goodness everything seems to be going okay. On my non-stress test today I was still contracting but not as bad as on Friday. My doctor is hoping I make it to at least next week. This pregnancy has gone by really fast and I am getting very excited to meet Dru.

Happy New Year

I hope everyone is planning to have a fun and safe New Year's Eve. I don't think my family and I will do too much tonight. We may just stay in and watch a couple movies to bring in the new year. We have gotten a couple of invites to some friends homes but don't have a babysitter, so I think we will just stay in. I am excited to see what 2008 has to offer, it should be a pretty exciting year.

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. I had a wonderful time with all my family. It was great to see everyone again. 34 Weeks Pregnant

I am now 34 weeks pregnant and am getting very excited for this baby to arrive. Yesterday my husband and I went to see my doctor and also to have an ultrasound and non-stress test done. My husband really wanted to know what the sex of the baby was, so I gave in and we are having a little girl. Dru Elisabeth will be her name. I still have about six weeks to go before she is due and she is already approximately 6lbs 9oz. If I go to full term she will be a really big baby. My doctor did say however I could be induced as early as 38 weeks but she would probably wait until closer to 39 weeks depending on how big she got.

33 Weeks Pregnant

Today I am officially 33 weeks pregnant. I just cannot believe how fast this pregnancy has gone. Soon Christmas will have come and gone, which means it certainly won't be long until our little baby arrives. As each week passes my family gets more excited. This baby will be welcomed by 1 brother and 2 sisters. My son is hoping for a brother to help even things out. Today I felt a lot of movement with the baby. Christmas Tree

Today I put up the Christmas Tree. I did not put up the tree I usually do though. I am 33 weeks pregnant and decided I wasn't getting all my Christmas things out this year. Thank goodness for mom's. I called my mom and asked her if I could use one of her small trees that already have lights and decorations on. All I had to do was drive 5 miles to her house, pick it up, bring it home, put it on a table, and plug it in. I don't think it's every been as easy as that to decorate my house. I figure by the time we would have to put everything a way I would be to tired and uncomfortable, so this is what we are doing this year. Next year with a new baby we will get out all the Christmas decorations.

Well I guess the first winter storm of the season has arrived, so I decided to make a pot of homemade vegetable soup. When you live in the midwest and have to deal with the wind, freezing rain, and snow there is not much to do, your pretty much stuck at home. Snow

Listening to the weather forecast and patients as they have come into the office today makes me think that winter is going to show her ugly head. I think Johnny Depp has become an actor to compete with. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is one of my favorite movies in which Johnny Depp starts as Willy Wonka. In this particular movie I love it when Willy Wonka finally realizes that family is a good thing and he no longer needs to stay away from his father. All the characters in this movie and how he interacts with them will keep your interests throughout the whole movie. I also really like to watch the Pirate of the Caribbean movies in which he plays Captain Jack Sparrow. He does a wonderful job. Part of what makes this movie so great, are the costumes, the scenery, and all the action. My favorite scene in The Pirates of the Caribbean, The Curse of the Black Pearl, is at the end when Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann save him from sure death. In this movie I also believe he learns about what family and friends are all about. His newest movie, due out in theatres December 21, 2007, is sure to be exactly what I would expect from any Johnny Depp film. Brittany Spaniel

Our dog Scout is almost three years old already. My how the time flies. She is really attached to my son Cole. If Cole goes outside, she will sit by the door and cry or look out every window she can until he comes back into the house. She is doing this so much that it gets to be really annoying at times. I think Cole is just going to have to start taking her outside with him to save her a panic attack.

I am around 31 weeks pregnant and am very much looking forward to January and the arrival of our little baby. The Capped 6th Grader

Last month Becca and I were shopping at Target. We happened to stop in the book section of the store. Here we found the books The Capped 6th Grader. Becca thought she would like to read these books so I bought the three books that were there to buy. I didn't realize at the time that these books were a series and that we had purchased books two, three, and four. Now Becca doesn't want to read them until we find book one. She doesn't want to read them out of order. We have looked a multiple stores to find this book and cannot. Maybe I will have to call Aunt Trisha, who lives in a larger city, and ask her to look for this book so that Becca will start to read them.

Digital Cameras

My husband and I are expecting our fourth child due in January. One of the fun things about having a new baby is catching all their important milestones with pictures and by making home videos as they grow up. Our digital camera has been through a lot of pictures having three children already. One of my favorite pictures is of my daughter Becca playing in a large pile of leaves last fall. I had a lot of fun editing the picture to just the way I wanted it and than printing it off right away to hang it on my wall. What I like the most about digital cameras is being able to see how your picture turned out right away, saving it or choosing to delete it and taking a new picture, instead of waiting for your film to come and hoping they all turned out okay. For Christmas this year I asked for a camcorder. With everyone getting so busy in all kinds of different activities I want something more modern than what we already have. I would like a camcorder that records straight to a DVD or hard drive and is small in size so I can carry it in my purse or pocket. I have looked a several different models and am trying to choose between a JVC or Sony model. I am looking forward to recording our new baby’s arrival so I hope my Christmas wish comes true.

Basketball

Cole had another basketball game tonight. They did a lot better than last night. Cole was happy that he got to start tonight, it was his first start this season. He did a very good job. I did notice though that he needs to work on his dribbling. At one point the ball was bouncing off his knee and then his foot. He managed to keep control of it and score two points with a lay up. Over all the team did pretty well.

I made a jello salad to take with to my in-laws for thanksgiving dinner. I don't know why but it was really runny by the time we ate dinner. When I made this salad last night it wasn't runny. Basketball Tournament

Last weekend at the local college here in town my son participated in the 7th grade basketball tournament. I was unable to watch him play as my daughter went to a state bowling competition. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. We had a great day with my husbands family today. The food was excellent. My favorite is usually the turkey, but today I have to say that the ham was one of the better hams I have eaten. All the cousins seemed to get along well today. We did have a few snow flurries today. Special Olympics

On Saturday my daughter Alli participated in the special olympics. She went to the state competition and won a gold medal in her division. She did such a great job. She was so proud to wear her medal to school today to show all her friends. I am glad we have found a sport that she really enjoys.

Ringworm

About 2 weeks ago I asked the school nurse to look at my daughters right shoulder. There was a pink spot on it that made me a little suspicious. She told my husband and I that it was just dry skin and to put lotion on the area. Loss Of Loved One

This past week a real good friend of my father-in-law passed away from injuries he received in an auto accident. I know this has hit Jim hard. It's a very sad time in our lives when we loose our loved ones, especially when it is very unexpected like with an automobile accident. My prayers are with Jim and also with Merle's family. I know they will heal from this as they carry the lord very close to them everyday. Good Friends

Tonight after Cole's basketball game we visited with our good friends Ken and Rhondele. We had so much fun at their house tonight. Not only did we have a very good supper but we also got to spend some fun time with their new son Brighton. He seems to be such a good baby. I don't think he really fussed at all the whole time we were there. Cole and Becca really enjoyed holding him and Alli smiled and giggled anytime she say him. I think the kids were practicing for when our new little one arrives in January.

1 Pint buttermilk
¾ cup sugar

7th Grade Basketball

Tonight Cole had his first 7th grade basketball game. I believe they won 53 - 7. You could really tell that the boys had first game jitters as they got off to a rough start. Cole had a couple of assists and stole the ball once. I felt kinda bad for him though, both times he shot the ball he didn't score. Maybe he will get that down for the next game.

Well it's that time of night, time for a bedtime snack. I am pregnant and what I usually want is some ice cream. Orthodontics

Yesterday Cole saw his orthodontist and had his lower braces placed on his teeth. Back in early July was when he had his upper ortho appliances placed. His mouth has been so sore since his adjustment and than with the placement of the lowers. He can only eat soft foods and is very crabby because they hurt so bad. He just can't wait until the pain goes away. I have a feeling it will be a few days yet before he is feeling back to his old self.

Stephen King has to be one of the all time best writers for horror books which almost always turn into award winning horror movies. They always leave me on the edge of my seat, just waiting to see what is going to happen next. One of my all time favorite movies by Stephen King is the Green Mile. In this movie you still have the suspense of what will happen next. Good versus evil with neither of them really winning. Anytime this movie is on TV my husband and I are compelled to watch. I am really excited about seeing his next movie, which will be in theaters on November 21, 2007. The Mist by Stephen King has everything one would expect it would have. This movie will have you sitting on the edge of your seat, wondering what is going to come out of The Mist? What is happening to the people who do venture outside? When you finally do realize who or what is in the Mist you will start to wonder why they are here and what do they really want. We have been short handed at work the past week. I know that it is only Wednesday but I sure am ready for Friday. Great Check Up

I am just over 28 weeks pregnant and I had another prenatal visit yesterday. I only gained 1 pound since my last visit. This was a relief because at my last two visits I had gained about 11 pounds. My daughter Alli is a very special little girl. She is one of the 1:150 children who has been diagnosed with Autism. She is such a sweet thing. Becca is laying on the couch reading her library book. It used to be that I would have to fight to get her to even pick a book up to just look at the pictures. Colder Today

Today is quite a bit colder outside. At about 11:00 AM today I don't think it was even 40 degrees outside. I can sure feel the temperature difference inside my house also. In the past when we have had it running when the temps have been warmer, it has been as high as 84 degrees. Washing Machine

I can't believe I am on my second year of this washing machine. The brand is Kenmore, it is one of their High Efficiency washing machines, and it is from sears. I have been married almost 14 years now and this is my third set. I have had so many different problems with the machines over the years that I took out the maintenance agreement with this set. Today they are coming for their annual inspection and cleaning of both the washer and dryer. My laundry is starting to really pile up as there is something wrong with my washing machine. Sliver

Becca just came to show me that she has a sliver in her thumb. Of course in her mind it's the biggest sliver that anyone has ever had. She has been sitting on the couch complaining about it for about 15 minutes. I just ate some ice cream and I have bribed her with some. If she lets me or her dad take the sliver out then she too can have some ice cream. She is so afraid for us to touch it that she is now sitting at the kitchen table trying to get it out herself, but is still complaining that it hurts to bad to touch. Hopefully she will get brave enough sooner than later and will let me take it out before she gets an infection in her thumb. Tonight while she sleeps may be a good time to take it out. Wish me luck.

M*A*S*H

While I am sitting her writing in my blog John is watching an episode of M*A*S*H. As a child I can remember that every night after supper my dad would have to watch this program. He wasn't a very happy camper if he had to miss it. I remember that it was always on at 6:30 pm. It's fun when memories from my childhood flash into my mind with something as small John watching M*A*S*H on TV because he felt there was nothing better to watch tonight.

Crib

Tomorrow I hope to set up the crib for the baby, who is not due to arrive until the end of January. My sister was kind enough to find us a crib really cheap and brought it home to me when I first found out I was expecting. It has been sitting in pieces since. I think I just need to feel organized and getting the crib set up will help me to feel a little better. In order to set up the crib though Becca will need to clean her room, as she wants to share her room with the baby. We will see how that goes after a few nights of very little sleep.

Loose Ends

Last Winter my husband started a project in our dining room. He decided to put cedar up on the walls and the floors are now hardwood. I have to say that I think this looks very nice and we have had many compliments on our room, however we still have no trim up. Being married to John now for almost 14 years I have learned that things will probably get done, it just may take many years to get the job totally complete. I am almost 28 weeks pregnant with baby #4 and am really getting anxious for him to get this trim up before baby arrives. Not only will it mean no more trim laying around, but I won't have to worry about they baby when he/she is on the go. Oh well, at least I know at some point it will get done.

Sometimes I like to catch up on the news by reading it online instead of looking at the newspaper. Yesterday I saw an article that really caught my attention. Good Check Up

Today I had my recheck appointment with the dietitian and the diabetic educator. They were checking my blood sugars as I have gestational diabetes. I was a little worried about my numbers because I had a few readings that were higher than they should have been. Deer

This morning on the way to work I saw a lot of smashed pumpkins from last nights Halloween activities. They were smashed all over the roads. All summer long I have seen deer living in East Woods, at least one doe with her two fawns and maybe even a second doe with two fawns also. This park just happens to be in town, but there are lots of trees for them to hide in. Anyway I saw the doe eating one of the smashed pumpkins. She wasn't even scared enough to run as I was driving by. I guess I never realized that a deer would eat pumpkins, I always just think of them in the fields eating corn. I guess it's true that you can learn something new everyday.

I am not a big fan of the flu shots. To be quite honest I am not a fan of any vaccine. For one thing the flu shot pumps you full of thimerasol which is basically mercury. New Baby

Vicky came to work today with the exciting news about her daughter. She went to the hospital about 3:00 am this morning to have her new baby. Good Help

John was suppose to start a new job this week. He will be making a flat roof into a peeked roof. He has one person who helps him out but has had an excuse everyday this week as to why he cannot make it. Because he has had no help he has been helping his dad farm. Tonight he called my brother Lance and another friend Matt to see if they could help him out tomorrow. He really needs to get started before the weather turns to cold and it starts to snow. I guess it's true when they say it's hard to find good help now days and reliable help.

Harvest

My father-in-law Jim is right in the middle harvest. We had a little delay in getting the crops out of the fields because of all the rain we got a couple of weeks ago. John has been helping Jim the last couple of days to try and help get the crops out of the field faster. All the farmers in our area have been going day and night. Harvest started so early this year that a lot of farmers thought they would get done earlier this year, but with the rain we had it may end up taking longer.

I saw on the news tonight that they believe a boy started one of the devastating fires in California. How this family must feel and how scared this boy must have been and still is. Halloween

Tonight is the first night in 12 years that my husband and I do not have to take kids out for trick or treating. Cole is to "old" to be seen with his parents on Halloween, Alli hates dressing up and would rather stay home, and Becca went with a friend to her church. Autism's New Guidelines

I was happy to see in the newspaper and on Larry King Live last night that new guidelines for pediatricians have been set. It will now be necessary for pediatricians to check each child for Autism before they turn two. They will now need to be check at their 18 month and 24 month check ups. I think this is a good step in the right direction, however I still think children need to be evaluated before they are 18 months old, as some kids show signs even earlier. My daughter Alli, who is Autistic was diagnosed way to late at the age of 3 1/2. I would have to agree that 7 years ago doctors had no idea what to look for and when to diagnose and refer out to a specialist, even when we asked questions like "does Alli have Autism"? The key to helping all kids on the spectrum is to start early intervention, so the sooner we can diagnose Autism the greater chance these wonderful kids have to lead a "normal" life.

Sabrina Gone

I couldn't believe it tonight, Sabrina was voted off of Dancing with the Stars. I thought she was the dancer who would make it all the way to the top. It was so surprising to see Cameron in the bottom two with her. I really didn't want to see either of them go, but you knew one of them had to go. They are both very good dancers. We have had our corn burner going since this weekend. It is 81 degree's in our house tonight. I know it's only that warm because it is a nice calm night outside. Daycare

I am now 27 weeks pregnant and am starting to look for daycare. I am tossing up with going to a large daycare facility with this baby, just for the convenience of knowing they will never be closed. Housework

Yesterday I spent the day rearranging my living room. Since my grandparents were nice enough to give us their old recliners I needed to get things organized. Sunday Dinner

Before church today I put a chicken and potatoes in the oven for Sunday dinner. When we got home the house smelled so very good and was so nice, warm, and cozy. It turned out that the chicken and baked potatoes were as yummy as they smelled. We also had homemade chocolate chip/peanut butter chip cookies that topped it off just right. I am glad that I don't eat this much everyday or I would be in big trouble.

Dinner Plans

Tonight John surprised me by saying we were going out for supper. It's so nice to have little surprises like this, especially when I don't have to cook or clean up supper. Today was opening weekend for pheasant hunting. My son and husband went out this morning with the dogs. Between the two of them they got a total of three birds. Cold Weather

The weather here sure has been getting colder with each passing day. We ran out of corn for our corn burner, which is what we are hoping will heat our home most of the winter so that we only have to run the furnace when it's really cold this winter. Last night it got down to 57 degrees before we went and got more corn. Tonight it's back to being nice and toasty in here. I am really not looking forward to winter, but living here we really don't have much of a choice.

New Furniture

Yesterday my grandparents bought two new recliners, which means we got their two old ones, which are in very good condition. Tonight they came over to visit. I think they just missed their chairs. Both of them made comments about how their bodies are just not used to the new chairs. I'm sure glad they thought of us and gave us their good, used chairs. We sure think they are comfortable too.

Basketball Practice

Yesterday my son Cole started basketball practice for 7th grade. He didn't do much except meet the coach and learn what will be expected of him. Today was the first official day of practice. Bedtime

My 7 year old daughter Becca is not wanting to go to bed at night. The last two nights it has been at least 10:00 if not later. The bad thing about this is it's hard to have any alone time when you always have someone wanting to be your shadow. Diabetic Meter

I am 26 weeks pregnant and found out yesterday that I failed my 3 hour glucose test. I have been officially diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. I now have to prick my finger four times a day. I sure hope that this doesn't develope into type II diabetes, which my mom and grandpa have. My son's Ipod went bad. Thank goodness we took out the insurance policy on it. I took it back last week and they gave him a new one. Special Olympics

Yesterday my daughter Alli participated in the Special Olympics for bowling. She did not have one of her better days. Her scores were 70 and 87. Not to bad. Part of her problem was that she needed to wait one hour before they let them bowl. Waiting is not something Alli is good at. Last year she made it to state championship for bowling. I guess we will see if she makes it again this year.
